As the year winds down and the December heat turns up, the team at S.A. Shade is still hard at work — stitching, creating, and keeping things moving during one of our busiest times of the year. But even in the rush to shutdown, there’s always room for a bit of festive fun and laughter.

To celebrate the season, we asked our team a series of light-hearted Christmas questions — from donkey carts to choirs, snacks, and stressed elves. The answers give a genuine glimpse into the personalities, humour, and teamwork that make S.A. Shade what it is.

Here’s what our team had to say… 🎅🎶🧵

  1. If Santa had to deliver gifts in South Africa, do you think he’d switch to a bakkie, a donkey cart… or just Uber? Why?

Carol:  “Definitely a donkey cart, because that’s the only way he’ll be able to get to all areas in South Africa.”

  1. What’s the “most South African” thing Santa could leave under your tree? (Besides a braai pack!)

Ryan:  “A six-pack of beer.”

  1. If you had to explain your job to Santa’s elves, what would you tell them first?

Anrich:  “I’m a specialist in custom-made products.  I get to be very creative in my job.”

  1. If your manager dressed up as Santa, how quickly would the team notice?

Siseko:  “Very quickly. He’s always in his S.A. Shade uniform, so the red suit — and the change in the way he walks — would give him away immediately.”

  1. Who in the team would make the best and worst elves?

Heinrich:  “The best elf would be Elroy – he always makes my day.  The worst elf would be Ryan, because he doesn’t always like to share.”

  1. If S.A. Shade had a Christmas mascot, what would it be?

Devine:  “A stressed elf, because December is the busiest time of the year for us.”

  1. If your job had a Christmas soundtrack, which song would play every time you clock in?

Robin:  “Jingle Bells”

  1. If your uniform had a Christmas version, what would it look like?

Badrun:  “Christmas hats made from shade cloth.  It will get us all in the Christmas spirit.”

  1. If you could decorate one tool or machine for Christmas, which one would you choose and why?

Shaun:  “The eyelet machine.  I like shooting eyelets and decorating the machine will make it more festive.”

  1. If S.A. Shade had a staff Christmas choir, which co-worker would be the star?

Lee-Anthum:  “Me!  Because I’m the strongest singer in the group.”

  1. If our workplace had a Christmas talent show, what “talent” would you perform?

Lorraine:  “Stitching – I’m really good at my job.”

  1. If you could vote for the person with the “Most Christmas Spirit” who would you vote for and why?

Elroy:  “I would vote for Ryan. He’s full of surprises, always in good spirits, and constantly smiling.”

  1. If we had an “Elf of the Year” award for the person who helped the most, who would you vote for and why?

Meagan:  “I would vote for Tiaan. He’s always willing to help and answer questions.”

  1. If we had to choose someone to be our Christmas DJ, who would it be… and what song would they play first?

Melvin:  “Shaun, because he loves to play beat-heavy music.  His would probably play Amapiano first.”

  1. If the team had to take a Christmas group photo, who would pose seriously… and who would strike a dramatic model pose?

Lelethu:  “I think Lorraine would be the serious one and Heinrich would strike a pose.”

  1. If we had a Christmas fashion show made from scrap fabric, who would absolutely steal the show?

Lauren:  “Lee-Anthum by far.  She loves to dress up, especially on Fridays.”

  1. Who in the team is most likely to be found near the snacks at the Christmas party?

Chaney:  “Elroy.  He loves a good snack.”

  1. Who is most likely to bring the loudest laugh to the Christmas party?

Jonathan:  “Ryan.  He gets excited very easily.”

  1. What’s tougher: the December heat… or the last week of work before shutdown?

Maria:  “The heat, because I enjoy what I do.”
